Originally named Lake Cedar, the area was settled in 1830. The highway was built in 1927, making it a resort town popular for summer vacations. In the years since it has remained a picturesque getaway with a thriving local culture.
Sample Local Spirits
Lake Zurich is home to Copper Fiddle Distillery, which makes its own whiskey, gin and rum as well as holds tastings and tours. If straight liquor sounds a bit much, they also offer a range of delightful cocktails.
Another stop is Broken Earth Winery. They are one part winery, one part event venue. If you’re looking to unwind, there are special nights where you can grab a glass of wine and listen to live music.
Get Artsy
Clay Monet is an art shop for all ages. Whether you want to learn how to throw clay on a pottery wheel or just feel in the mood to paint a pre-made ceramic sculpture, they have something for you.
If you’re interested in drawing or painting in watercolors, the Main Street Art Center has been offering classes to residents and visitors since 1994 and holds ongoing workshops taught by established artists.
Feel Festive
If you’ve spoken to an experienced real estate agent Zurich IL and are planning on staying in the area all year round, there are several seasonal festivals to visit. In May summer is kicked off with the Long Grove Chocolate Fest, where you can listen to live music, admire chocolate sculptures and even sample some. Throughout the summer, there is a Farmer’s Market where you can buy wares and produce from local artists and producers.
In late September nearby Long Grove holds the Apple Fest, which is a celebration of all the best parts of autumn—namely all the scrumptious things you can make with apples. To celebrate the winter holiday season, Lake Zurich hosts Miracle on Main Street, which features a tree lighting ceremony and live entertainment.
Whether you’re getting away from it all or settling down, Lake Zurich has something for everyone.
